Every once in a while, we are lucky to work on some of the most striking properties in the country and Kirkliston House is no exception.
The owner was keen to have the building returned to its former glory and preserve it for generations to come by carrying out a comprehensive refurbishment which included:
- Full roof strip and reslate
- Renewal of platform roofs
- Rebuilding and repairing chimneys
- Replacement of woodwork to dormers
- Renewal of leadwork to roof
- Installation of conservation rooflight
- Repair, replacement, and decoration of cast iron rainwater goods
- Repointing of masonry to elevations and chimneys
Testimonial:
Having noticed James Breck Ltd working on a selection of important heritage sites in Edinburgh, I felt confident in approaching a firm with such great and trusted conservation experience to ask whether they might be able to refurbish the original roof of our B Listed 1850's home. I was delighted to find that James Breck Ltd were just as passionate about restoration of houses, and even small projects and builds, as they are about cultural landmarks. Pleased also to discover that their quotation was competitive and comparable to other respected roofing & building firms, and with a total understanding of working within our budget at all times. The advice and experience given to us on all aspects of Listed Building and conservation requirements was invaluable. What especially made James Breck Ltd stand out beyond any other company was the extremely impressive and exceptionally high level of client care we received, with daily client contact, daily site visits from the senior building surveyor, prompt accessibility of all staff members, even the director. From the men on site to the team at the top, the staff are outstanding, friendly and polite. The refurbished roof now looks incredible. Every visitor we get asks who did our stunning roof refurbishment!
I wished to express our gratitude to all at James Breck Ltd by leaving this review. M. Lassers
